It is awesome to have the Phils back in the World Series. Playing against the Yankees this is shaping up to be an epic series. The Yankees are loaded with talent and have every ability to win it all. However, as Philly fan I see a character in the Phillies that gives me confidence that they will take this series. I think they want it badly and I think they will take it. I’m hoping in 5! We’ll see, can’t wait!

Great Thought From Oswald Chambers

“Jesus Christ did not say – Go and save souls (the salvation of souls is the supernatural work of God), but – “Go and teach,” i.e., disciple, “all nations,” and you cannot make disciples unless you are a disciple yourself. When the disciples came back from their first mission they were filled with joy because the devils were subject to them, and Jesus said – Don’t rejoice in successful service; the great secret of joy is that you are rightly related to Me. The great essential of the missionary is that he remains true to the call of God, and realizes that his one purpose is to disciple men and women to Jesus. There is a passion for souls that does not spring from God, but from the desire to make converts to our point of view.” – from My Utmost for His Highest 10.27.09
It is so easy in the Christian life to tie our joy to our own perceived sense of success or failure. When things go well, when we sense God has used us, we tend to be joyful. Certainly it is good to be thankful that God is using our lives, but we must always remember that God is more concerned about our heart being rightly related to Him than our service to Him. Once again God has used the words of man long in heaven to encourage and challenge me in my own walk with Christ.

The Phillies made my staying up past midnight worth it with a dramatic walk of win in the 9th. Jimmy Rollins was clutch with a 2 out double in the 9th to bring in 2 runs. Great game!

My Phillies continue their run back to the World Series tonight with a NLCS rematch against the Dodgers. The Phil took the Rockies in 4 (as I predicted) and they will take this series as well against a very good and talented Dodger squad. Cole Hamels will start them with a win, the Dodger will take game 2 and the Phils will win in 6. Should be a great series! GO PHILS!!!!

My college picks finally got on a winning track: 4-1 this past week.
Over in the NFL I was only 3-2 this week. However I was happy to have called Miami’s and Carolina’s upsets correctly.
